About Yellowprow Goby

The yellowprow goby is a western Atlantic reef fish reported from North Carolina and southern Florida through parts of the Caribbean to Central America.

Range and natural history

It is especially associated with tubular sponges and also occurs on coral reefs. FishBase lists a recorded depth range of about 7–26 meters, with some accounts emphasizing the deeper part of that range. Sponge structure is therefore a meaningful part of its habitat description.

This association should not be treated as evidence that every sponge-dwelling goby is this species. Several small gobies use reef shelter, so regional occurrence and diagnostic body characters still matter.
