About Slender Wenchman

The slender wenchman is a western Atlantic snapper recorded from the southeastern United States to Uruguay.

Range and natural history

Most specimens in the reviewed account came from trawls in relatively deep water near the edge of the continental shelf. Both soft and partly hard bottoms are reported. This is a useful habitat outline, but FishBase explicitly describes the habitat as poorly known.

The fish should therefore be identified from its diagnostic anatomy and locality rather than from a broad label such as deep-water snapper. Detailed claims about seasonal movement or breeding are not established by the short source account.
