About Gyre Flyingfish

Gyre flyingfish is an open-ocean Atlantic species concentrated in the central portions of oceanic gyres. It occurs around Bermuda and southward to about 20 degrees south in the western Atlantic.

Oceanic distribution

FishBase distinguishes its range from those of more coastal flyingfishes: it is absent from the Gulf of Mexico, the east coast of North America and most of the Caribbean. It occupies the marine water column near the surface.
